Crowns and dentures restore badly damaged or missing teeth. These are among the longest cases in a teaching clinic and call for patience and several visits.

Prosthetic treatment usually involves preparation, impressions, laboratory work and fitting. There is technical waiting time between stages that cannot be shortened.
Because of that length, students often look for these cases early in the semester.
The plan is drawn up after an examination and approved by a supervising teacher. Other procedures may be needed before the prosthetic work begins.
Whether the case is accepted depends on the condition of the teeth and on the requirements of the particular exercise.
