Frequently asked questions

  • Is it free for patients?

Yes. Search, requests, chat and reminders are free, and the platform does not process payment for treatment — that is paid at the faculty, at its own tariff. There is one exception: if you do not attend a confirmed appointment and did not cancel it, a €15 no-show fee applies. Cancel it from your account before the appointment — at any point — and you owe nothing.

  • What does the check-up cost?

The examination at the faculty is free. You come in, your teeth are looked at and what might be done is discussed — and only then do you decide whether to go on. If treatment follows, it is paid at the faculty’s own rates, which are a fraction of private practice. Fees are set by the faculty and can change, so confirm them on site.

  • Are the students real?

A profile becomes visible after a confirmed email and a completed profile — no subscription is needed. Separately, students can complete verification by uploading proof of active student status, which adds a verified badge and access to X-rays shared by a patient.

  • Where does treatment take place?

Only on the premises of the relevant Faculty of Dental Medicine — Sofia, Plovdiv or Varna — according to the faculty's rules and under academic supervision. The platform only arranges the meeting.

  • Is acceptance guaranteed?

No. The arrangement is an organizational step. Case suitability is assessed within the faculty and may require teacher approval. If your case is not suitable, the student may refer you to a colleague.

  • What data do I need to provide as a patient?

Only the necessary minimum: name, email, telephone, age group and case type. We do not require a national identification number, medical history, diagnoses or photographs. Please do not enter such information in free-text fields either.

  • Can I get the subscription cheaper?

Yes, by bringing other students. Register on another student’s referral and your first month is €10 less. For each student you refer who is paying a subscription, your own monthly fee drops by €10 for as long as theirs is active — up to three at once, so as low as €50 a month. If they stop paying, that reduction ends. There are also founder codes for each city, but the two do not combine in the same month.

  • How do I cancel an appointment?

Both the patient and the student can cancel a confirmed arrangement from their dashboard at any time before the appointment. The other party is notified immediately.

  • Can I choose when to come?

You choose from the times the student has published. Every student has a fixed weekly timetable at the faculty and offers their free slots from within it, so the choice is among those rather than any date you like. An hour is the typical slot length, and more extensive treatment usually takes more than one visit.

  • What happens if the student does not accept my request?

You get an email saying the request was not accepted, and the slot is released immediately. A decline is not a judgement on you — the student may be at capacity, the case may fall outside the department they are working in this term, or they may judge it unsuitable for student treatment. You can send a request to another student, and if none is suitable right now, join the waiting list and we will let you know.

  • What if there is no suitable student right now?

Leave your email on the waiting list for that treatment and city. We write to you as soon as a student who fits becomes available. If you also mark which days and times you can come, a student sees straight away whether it fits their timetable — which makes the choice easier for both of you.

  • Do I need an X-ray?

Not required. If you have a recent one, you can attach it to your request — it helps the student judge the case in advance. X-rays are kept for up to 6 months and then deleted automatically.

  • What language will we speak?

Every student lists the languages they speak and can add others beyond the list. You can filter the search by language, including by typing your own if it is not among the options offered.

  • I am in pain right now — should I wait?

No. The platform is not for emergencies and finding a student can take time. For severe pain, swelling, bleeding or injury, go to the Faculty of Dental Medicine in your city and ask for a doctor there, or go to an emergency department. UniDent is not a clinic and the faculty has no emergency surgery. If you have heavy bleeding, difficulty breathing or rapidly increasing swelling, call 112.
