A general check-up is a way to find out the condition of your teeth before planning treatment. It is also a sensible first step if you are not sure which category your case falls into.

The examination covers the teeth and gums, and what might be done is discussed. The check-up itself is not treatment.
If you have a panoramic X-ray (OPG), you can attach it to your request — it helps the student assess the case in advance.
After the examination it may turn out that the case suits a different clinical exercise, or a different student. That is common.
A check-up does not guarantee that treatment will be taken on in the teaching clinic.
