Root canal treatment of a molar — the large teeth at the back of the mouth. They have several canals, so treatment takes longer and usually needs several visits.

Molars have three or more canals, positioned where they are harder to reach. Treatment is therefore longer and is planned as its own clinical case — a student looking for a single-rooted tooth cannot use a molar, and vice versa.
If you do not know which tooth is yours, describe where the pain is. Molars are the teeth right at the back, the ones you chew with.
An X-ray is needed to judge the number and shape of the canals. The supervising teacher approves the plan and oversees the stages.
Expect several visits spread over weeks. Between stages the tooth is left with a temporary filling.
