Wisdom teeth — the third molars — are handled separately from other extractions, because the case is frequently surgical. It is taken on by students in the senior years, and not every wisdom tooth suits a teaching clinic.

A wisdom tooth may be fully through, partly through, or still under the gum. Each of those is a different procedure and is assessed on its own terms.
A deeply positioned or angled wisdom tooth may need specialist care outside the teaching clinic. That is not a rejection; it is a question of what the particular exercise covers.
A panoramic X-ray is almost always required — without it the position of the roots against the surrounding structures cannot be judged. The supervising teacher approves the case and oversees the procedure.
Whether the case is accepted is decided at the faculty, after the X-ray has been reviewed.
