A crown rebuilds a badly damaged tooth of your own; a bridge replaces one or two missing teeth by anchoring to the ones beside them. Both are made in laboratory stages across the academic term.

Treatment usually involves preparing the tooth, impressions, laboratory work and fitting. There is technical waiting time between stages that cannot be shortened.
Because of that length, students often look for these cases early in the semester so they can finish within it.
The plan is drawn up after an examination and approved by a supervising teacher. Other procedures may be needed first — a root canal on the same tooth, for instance.
Whether the case is accepted depends on the condition of the tooth and on the requirements of the particular exercise.
