A full denture is for a jaw with no remaining teeth of its own. It is one of the most sought-after cases in a teaching clinic — every student is required to do the exercise, and patients with a fully edentulous jaw are hard to find.

The denture is made across several consecutive visits — impressions, a try-in, fitting — each of which depends on the one before. The case therefore needs a commitment over the semester.
Adjustments almost always follow the fitting. They are part of the treatment, not a sign that something went wrong.
The supervising teacher examines the jaw and judges whether the case suits the exercise. If a tooth is still present, the case may turn out to be a different one — a partial denture, or an extraction before the prosthetic work.
Whether the case is accepted is decided at the faculty, after an examination.
