Is treatment with a dental student free?

Do not assume it is free. In some cases materials, laboratory costs or a faculty fee are payable; in others there may be no charge. It varies between faculties, between procedures, and even between individual cases — which is why UniDent publishes no prices and cannot promise you a figure.
Why there is no price list here
UniDent is a platform for finding a student, not a healthcare provider. Prices are not set by us and we could not guarantee them even if we published them. Each faculty has its own conditions, and those change over time.
The only reliable answer is the one you get from the student and the faculty before treatment begins.
What may typically be charged
These are possible items, not a list that applies everywhere. Take none of them as certain.
- Materials used during the procedure.
- Laboratory costs — most often for crowns, dentures and other prosthetic work.
- Fees charged by the healthcare provider, where these apply.
- Tests or X-rays taken outside the faculty.
Why it may still work out more affordable
In a teaching clinic the work is done by a student in training rather than a practising dentist, and that often shows in the cost. But "more affordable" does not mean "free", and it is not guaranteed — it depends on the procedure and the faculty.
What you pay instead is time: visits are longer, and more complex cases need several weekday appointments.
What to ask before you start
The time to settle costs is before the first procedure, not after it. It is reasonable to ask directly.
- Are there material or laboratory costs for this case?
- Is there a fee payable on site, and how is it paid?
- Can the amount change if the plan changes after the examination?
What to do next
- Ask about costs in your first message to the student.
- Settle the amount before treatment starts, not midway through.
- For longer treatment, ask whether costs are spread across visits.
