Who treats you
A senior dental student at the faculty treats you. Every stage is carried out under the supervision of a qualified dentist from the department, who checks the work and is responsible for the result, and without their approval the case does not count towards the student's programme.
UniDent is a platform, not a clinic, and it is not part of the Sofia faculty. It only connects you with a student who is looking for a case like yours, and the examination, the assessment and the treatment all happen at the faculty.
The free check-up and the fees
The check-up at the faculty is free. You come in, a student examines your teeth and gums under a teacher's supervision and tells you what treatment may be indicated, and only then do you decide whether to go on.
For the treatment itself you pay a nominal fee that the faculty sets and collects, not UniDent. It is usually a fraction of what a private practice charges, so confirm it on site before treatment starts.

How to book
You send a short, free request: what is bothering you, which days you can come, your name and a phone number. The students at the Sofia faculty see your case, and if one of them can take it, they call you to arrange the first visit. Only the student who takes the request sees your number, and you need no account.
You can also ask a student from the list above to call you. When someone calls depends on the case and on whether a student is looking for one like it right now, so we cannot promise a time.
The faculty in Sofia
The faculty's official address is 1 Sv. Georgi Sofiyski Blvd. The faculty was the first school of dental medicine in Bulgaria, founded in 1942. If a student takes your case, they will tell you where exactly to come.
Treatment at the faculty is split by department:
- fillings and root canal treatment of a single-rooted or multi-rooted tooth in Conservative Dentistry;
- tartar cleaning and gum treatment in Periodontology;
- extractions in Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery;
- crowns, partial and full dentures in Prosthetic Dental Medicine;
- children in Paediatric Dental Medicine.
The student decides which department your case belongs to, so you do not need to know in advance. Orthodontics (braces) is not offered through UniDent; for that, contact the faculty directly.
What to expect
Visits are on weekdays, in line with the teaching timetable, and a visit usually takes longer than in a private practice. Treatment often needs several visits, so if you are in a hurry, private practice will be faster.
Acceptance is not automatic: a student may decline a case they are not looking for at the moment, and the supervising teacher has the final say. Some cases need a specialist and will not be accepted in a teaching clinic, and then the student or their teacher will point you on.
